Leaving : What you should prepare
Getting ready to leave is not an easy task. It’s a process that can bring about a lot of questions. You have to remember that you are not alone in this. A counselor is always available to answer your questions and concerns. To help you get ready, here’s a list of important things we suggest you bring along. If it is safe for you, you can use a box or a luggage to collect them in. However, be careful not to put yourself at risk.
- Your house and car keys
- Money (in cash) to call and to take a taxi
- Clothes and shoes for you and your children
- List of important adresses and phone numbers
- Passports
- Bank statements and investment documents
- Marriage or divorce certificate if applicable
- Custody documents if applicable
- Birth certificates
- Immigration papers if applicable
- Health insurance cards
- Welfare documents
- Health and vaccination booklet
- Insurance papers
- Diplomas
- Children’s report cards
- Previous and current income tax report
- Lease documents
- Important bills if applicable
- Medication and prescriptions
- Personal items (family pictures, jewelry, other)
- Toys and children significant items
